Hi everyone - this summer I've set myself the challenge of raising £2,200 for World Horse Welfare - one of my favourite charities. They do fantastic work rescuing and rehabilitating horses and ponies in the UK. They also run international projects - currently in Lesotho, Guatemala, Mexico, Cape Town and Romania. I've pledged to raise £2,200 for the Romanian challenge: a 5 year project training up farriers, saddlers, vets and farmers, equipping them with business skills, some of whom then go on to train others. And so a sustainable infrastructure is created, gradually improving the welfare conditions of the million or so working horses and donkeys in Romania. And of course the farmers get more work out of their healthier animals. I'm going out in August for 10 days to ride fast local horses through Transylvania - the trail ride of a lifetime for me! - and I'll spend a day alongside one of the project teams this money is helping to fund.
