Hi all, On September 21st 2008 I'll be taking part in the Windsor Half Marathon. It’s my first half marathon and the furthest distance I’ve ever done, so I’m pretty scared! I will be raising money for The Cancer Fighting Fund which is a multi-million pound appeal for Wycombe Hospital to purchase state-of the-art equipment to detect cancer, and for the treatment of cancer patients. From 2007-2012 there will be a variety of projects, large and small, to provide 21st century care for different types of cancers. Phase Two (£150,000) will fund a special laser for less invasive treatment of prostate cancer, an automated processor to allow a rapid prostate biopsy results service and specialist equipment to assess those with possible bladder cancer. Many of us will be touch by cancer at some point in our lives, be it ourselves, friends or family and I’ve chosen this charity in particular as my best friend Chrissie Weisz lost her father, Richard, to cancer in December – a tragic loss of such a vivacious and caring man. I would really appreciate your support no matter how big or small…please donate through my just giving page. You’re also welcome to come along and support me on the day from 1pm but please refrain from taking pictures of me playing Forrest Gump and uploading on Facebook!! Thanks Mel.x
