Mel's £5,000 Challenge · 27 December 2012

The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.

Story

As people may or may not know, in 2012, my dad was diagnosed with a rare, incurable cancer called Myeloma. Myeloma attacks the blood and bone marrow.

My dad was treated intensely for months and months and the work The Christie did for him was unbelievable. The support they provided my dad with was fantastic, but they also provided my sister, my grandma and I with invaluable support too, which helped greatly.

Here's a little something I wrote about my dad and us:

This is my way of giving back to every doctor, nurse, nurse's assisstant, phlebotomist, cleaner, canteen worker and everybody else for how brilliant they really are.

I really want to raise £5,000 over the course of 2013. To do this I'll be doing various activities, the first of which is on 24th February 2013, where I will be abseiling down the North Stand at Old Trafford. This will be strange as I hold a season ticket in the same stand, but that only makes me want to do it more.

All of the information for the first event is here:

http://www.christie.nhs.uk/the-christie-charity/whats-on/sporting-events/uk-challenges/manchester-united-abseil.aspx

I'll be updating my page as and when I sign up to new events.

Thanks for your support, I'm not asking you to make a huge sponsor, every pound helps!

Thanks in advance,

Mel xxx
