Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page :)

Along with my beautiful friend Caitlin, the two of us have decided to join in with our university AUCB's charity fundraising event 'Leggit'. The whole idea is that, starting from Bournemouth on the 18th April 2011, we have exactly 36 hours to try and blag our way as far away from Bournemouth as possible without spending a PENNY of our own money!! Simply surviving off people's good will and sweet talking a heck load of bus drivers...

There are several other teams competing from our Uni, which makes it even more awesome.

The charity we are fundraising for is CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young), in loving memory of our beautiful, wonderful friend Nick Jarram, who sadly passed away unexpectedly 2 years ago of an undiagnosed heart condition in 2009, at the crazy young age of only 26 years old, leaving a huge hole in lots of hearts.

There is not a lot of common knowledge surrounding Sudden Cardiac Death, yet this (and other such undiagnosed heart conditions) occur in at least 12 fit and healthy young (35 and under) people every week. CRY strives to prevent these tragedies through conducting National Screening Programmes (ECG screening tests) which help highlight problems and enable young people to receive preventive medical care, before it is too late. As if this isn't enough, CRY provides financial and technical support for vital research, as well as running bereavement programmes for those already lost.

Please check this out for more information: (http://www.c-r-y.org.uk/) and help by donating as much as you can to help them prevent such tragedies happening!!

Our target for entering the LEGGIT event is £50, but we believe in what we're doing so strongly and as it's for Nick, we are seriously aiming to achieve a lot more, so we need your help!!!!

ALSO, if we raise more than £100 we will actually do the ENTIRE 36 HOURS in a TIGER SUIT. (If that's not an incentive.. what is? =D)

Thank you so much for taking your time to read my profile, and please please please help out by giving anything you can, it all helps towards this cause, no matter how small.

:) Peace xx

___________________

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
