This March 3rd sees the 40 anniversary of an air crash in France that killed 346 people including 18 members of Bury St Edmunds RUFC who were on their way back from watching England play France in Paris that weekend.
To commemorate this event, a group of more than 80 cyclists, including a number of relatives of those who died in the crash, will be cycling 320 miles from the crash site at Ermenonville near Paris back to Bury St Edmunds in early May to raise funds both for the club’s charitable organisation, The Haberden Trust, and for the local hospice in Bury St Edmunds, St Nicholas Hospice Care.
The funds raised for the club will be used to help fund a floodlighting project to increase the area available for night time training for both the Youth and Mini sections of the club. The other half of the funds raised will be going towards supporting the valuable work carried out both at the hospice and in the local community by St Nicholas Hospice Care.
