What would you do?

What would you do if you had a call on a Sunday evening informing you that two very good friends had nearly killed whilst attempting to raise £100k for charity?

What would you do?

Me? I’m getting on my bike...

Sean Newman and James Golding are truly inspirational men. Sean has been involved in charities for years, helping build schools in Africa and raising money for various charities running many, many marathons. James is an inspiration to everyone. 18 months ago, he had a 10% chance of survival due to a cancerous tumour, but he has fought it and teamed up with Sean to cycle across America to raise £100k for 3 core cancer charities, Macmillan Cancer Support, CoppaFeel and Livestrong. www.cycleacrossamerica2010.com

All was going well, they had left Texas and entered Louisiana when on Sunday 11 July a truck hit Sean at 70mph, propelling him into James.

As their journey has come to an abrupt end, it struck me that I needed to do something to help them in some way reach their target of £100k. As a keen cyclist, I am taking part in the London to Paris cycle, however, in order to increase the challenge for myself and try and raise £10k for Sean and James's charities, I will cycle 700 miles instead, beginning on Tuesday 20 July in Rugby where Sean’s business is based.

Not only can you sponsor me but you can also sponsor the support car – take a look at my Just Giving page or the sponsorship opportunities opposite. I haven’t trained enough for this, but the way I see it, the pain I will go through isnothing compared to what the boys have gone through – not just the physical injuries but the fact that their journey and ability to raise money for such worthy causes has been cut short.

Please support me in trying to help these inspirational men achieve their goal.

Thanks for your support
