The Challenge

On 27 June 2009, a team from St Paul's School, London will attempt the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for The Anthony Nolan Trust.

The Three Peak Challenge is a mountain-endurance challenge, in which participants attempt to climb the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in under 24 hours.

The Challenge involves a vertical ascent of over 3,000m (10,000ft). 13 hours of climbing and 11 hours spent travelling.

The Mountains

Ben Nevis, Scotland (1,344m - 4,409ft). Also the highest mountain in the United Kingdom.

Mount Snowdon, Wales (1,085m - 3,560ft).

Scafell Pike, England (978m - 3,209ft).

The Charity

When Anthony Nolan was born in 1971 with Wiscott Aldrich Syndrome, he needed a bone marrow transplant to survive. At the time, there was no Bone Marrow Register and Anthony Nolan sadly died at the age of seven. In order to compile a list of donors, The Anthony Nolan Register was set up in 1974. 35 years later, and renamed The Anthony Nolan Trust, the charity helps to find those suffering from Leukaemia  lifesaving Bone Marrow Donors.

More information is available at the charity's website: http://www.anthonynolan.org.uk
