Story
My niece, Poppy, was diagnosed with an 8cm brain tumour when she was 14 months old. She was given a 50/50 chance of surviving her first operation. Thankfully, she did survive, but has since endured chemotherapy, radiotherapy and numerous operations to help her battle this evil illness.
On April 23rd 2012 Poppy underwent a 6 hour brain operation where surgeons were able to finally remove almost all of her tumour!
Poppy has managed to smile throughout all of her treatment and has been an inspiration to all who've met her.
As a thank you to Birmingham Children's Hospital for the fantastic level of care they provided, and for saving Poppy's life, the Poppy Fields Charity was set up. Since 2004 the charity has raised over £180,000 for BCH, which has helped to fund vital research into the causes of childhood brain cancers.
On Sunday 5th May I will be taking part in the Lichfield Half Marathon and I'm hoping to raise money for Poppy Fields. If you can sponsor me, no matter how small the amount, that will be greatly appreciated. Your genorosity could help to save a childs life.
Thank you so much for your support!
