Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.     Hi allan and I are are both attempting to walk a half marathon thats 13.1miles in 3ft of water. The attempt should all being well take us 9 to 10hrs in our local swimming pool. The pool is 15yds long and 3ft deep, so we will have to do 1,584 lengths thats 23,760yds. Both of us are no spring chickens we are both granddads allan is 56yrs of age and i being 70yrs old. our charity is latch that does tremendous work for childrens cancer sufferers and there families in Wales.    These past few weeks allan and i have been training in 3ft of water for 2miles, this as taken us 1hr 15mins. The rest of the mileage will be into the unknown territory where our stamina  and will power will kick in,  W e don,t know what effect the water will have 0n our bodies for that length of time . Hopefully we should raise lots of money to help the welsh childrens cancer charity , and then all our time and effort  will have been  worthwhile.   For the next few weeks i am attending some shopping centres and high streets in my quest for donations.    What has inspired me is a £50 donation that i recieved from a young lady from london a total stranger that i h ad only met for 10mins   Hi we have now completed the half marathon challenge  in a time of 9hrs 30mins without stopping,.We started at 5am and finished at 2 30pm. The first 6miles was the difficult part because we were into the unknown and did not know how the water would effect us at this time ,after that it was grit the teeth, forget the aches and pains and reach the finish line. Thanks to all the people who turned up on the day to support us and urge us on, for without your support  this challenge would have been a lot harder
