About my charity : Accord Hospice
ACCORD Hospice provides specialist palliative care to the communities of Renfrewshire and parts of East Renfrewshire. This care is provided to over 500 patients and families each year by our multi-disciplinary team including our three consultants, In Patient Care (8 beds), Day Care (15 places) Community Nurse Specialists (5) and a whole range of different therapies. Almost £2 million is required in this financial year (07/08)

** UPDATE** I made it! Finished the course in 5hrs 11mins 23sec. It certainly wasn't easy, but well worth it to raise such a great amount for ACCORD. Thank you all for your generous donations.

On the 13th April 2008 I am competing in the Flora London Marathon and I have decided to do so in aid of my favourite charity, ACCORD Hospice.  My reasons for doing this are two fold.  Firstly my Mum, Liz Curran, the welcoming receptionist at ACCORD, would never forgive me if I chose to run for another charity!  ..... and secondly my immediate family has been touched by cancer and I know and appreciate the value of hospice care.

ACCORD provides an essential service in Renfrewshire and parts of East Renfrewshire and they are heavily reliant on the generosity of the general public in helping them with the wonderful work that they do.  My motivation for completing the full 26 miles, and all the training associated with it, is knowing that every penny raised by me will help ACCORD provide the excellent level of care for their patients and their families during their time of need.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.  It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me:  ACCORD Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Michael has, for some years now, been a great supporter of ACCORD through his participation in sponsored events for the Hospice.  I am delighted that he has managed to obtain a much sought after place in the London Marathon.

On behalf of ACCORD I thank you for supporting Michael in all his endeavours to raise funds for our Hospice and can assure you that every penny donated by you and raised by him will be used to help provide the quality of care for which our Hospice is renowned.
