Story

STOP PRESS...STOP PRESS...STOP PRESS...STOP PRESS...STOP PRESS...STOP P

Unfortunately, an untimely medical problem and the associated drugs needed to treat it mean that I have been instructed by the doctors to abandon my Marathon plans for this year. I am very disappointed to be unable to compete after all my training but should be back in form ready for Marathon 2009 - watch this space!

The photo shows me driving a steam train, the only
recent picture of me in motion. I can't show you
myself running as I am not in training, and I haven't
even a picture of myself WALKING. However that is what
I will be doing in the Flora London Marathon this
year.

I have always had a great interest in marathons, but
it has not, until recently, been possible to get into
one unless one was in training. However The Flora
London Marathon has provided the opportunity for some
years now. Every year since it started I have watched
on the TV, and every year I have wished I was there!
Until recently I didn't know if I could do the
distance. But during the last couple of years I have
done a lot more walking than I had previously had the
time for. I found that the 26 miles for a marathon
takes about 8 hours, but is otherwise not a problem.
Of course I don't know what effect the other 35,000
competitors will have on my progress. They may sweep
me along faster than when I am alone, or they may get
in the way and slow me down.

The charity Sense is one that I have supported for
some years now and they let me have a place. Of course
they need a lot of financial support and I hope that,
like me, you will think they deserve it.

Being deafblind or having a deafblind child must be
two of the hardest problems in life. I cannot image
how they cope with it.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sense - National Deafblind and Rubella Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
