HELLO! 

Now I know you probably get requests every day to sponsor any old sod for any old random cause, be it old friends from school you never see these days nor want to, some scary facebook stalker, random work colleagues, some foreign scam only after your bank details, the annoying ex who still wants ‘to be friends’, a one night stand best forgotten etc…but this run supports an excellent yet unglamorous charity.

The Run - coz champagne don't train

The Manchester 10k is regarded as one of the toughest on the circuit, where one can expect gruelling conditions, tough terrain and in many parts of the course, rather unfriendly locals eager to grab your brand new specially bought running watch. My current PB for 10k is 46.19 (a nasty hilly Sheffield 10k in September 2007), so my aim is to smash that 45 minutes barrier. (now updated to 44 mins, as Mark has promised me another £10 for going below 44)

The Cause

The charity I’m running for is something that my employer, The Bank of New York Mellon, is closely affliliated to and last year our Manchester office raised in excess of £10,000.

The Community Foundation for Greater Manchester, reaches unglamorous local causes and makes a real difference in people’s lives. Every single penny raised by Bank of New York Mellon employees reaches small local community projects and initiatives within Greater Manchester. Staff at the bank are involved in the whole process – they raise all the money and make all the grant-making decisions with the professional support of the Community Foundation. I will be personally involved in the next grant-making panel meeting and will be able to tell you how your money was put to good use.

The Important Stuff

For all money I raise between £100 - £250, the bank will match!!! If everyone can part with just a few pounds I can reach my target of £150 (recently updated from £100) with ease, an amount which will quickly double!
