Nothing stigmatatises a child with cancer as much as the moment when their hair falls out as a result of Chemotherapy. To minimize this particular difficulty, Zichron Menachem has a programme in which young people donate their own hair to make human-hair wigs.To make just one of these wigs it can take up to fifteen 30cm plaits. To buy one of these wigs can cost up to $4000.00.

Three years ago, when I was seven, I had twelve inches of my hair cut off. I donated it to the charity in Israel called Zichron Manachem and I have decided  to do it again. After my first chop I went to visit the centre and I felt like I had a connection with it.I could see that my money was making a huge impact on these childrens lives. The money raised helps to make sure the children at Zichron Menachem have access to all sorts of activities,such as a beautiful music room for the children to play any instrument they were interested in.There is a soft play area with a TV, video games and all sorts of gaming technology. There was a swimming pool and a very restful garden along with a fish pond.

 

When I visited the medical room it made me feel very calm because firstly the walls were painted with butterflies,grass and flowers.It wasn't too dull or too lively! There were two beds in this room . One was shaped like a giraffe and the other an elephant. This made me feel that whoever had to have treatment in this room would not be frightened as it did not really feel like a medical room.

 

There was another sensory room with a fish tank in the middle surrounded by beds and comfy chairs for the children who were too ill to take part in an activity. They could come here and relax watching the fish.

 

This wonderful center  not only welcomes childern with cancer but also their siblings in order for their parents to have some time to relax.

 

I found it really hard to cut off my hair, but I said, in my mind over and over again, if my hair had fallen out because of cancer it would have felt more than ten times worse. I felt so happy after my hair had been cut as I knew it was going to somebody who is less fortunate than me!

 

We raised just under £3000.00 the last time and I would like to raise even more this year.

 

PLEASE, PLEASE donate as much as you can to help those poor children who have no hair ,due to cancer. I would really appreciate and be thankful for any donation given to me as this charity really makes a difference to children’s lives.
