Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Last year lots of you came up with ideas for fundraising in 2007.  Common themes were something to do with a double glazing company (or maybe you meant the world's tallest mountain?) and some sort of extreme ironing (seemed to involved a very long swim and a marathon though, rather than ironing on a week night or in the garden...)  So what silliness did I undertake this year? Answer...

So, I made a return appearance at the London Olympic Triathlon, on Sunday the 5th of August.  A full race report and photos can be seen at http://uk.geocities.com/irene_kiener/photos_Double_Whammy_1.htm

The Hallwilersee Half Marathon, on Saturday the 13th of October.  All done.  The Double Whammy is complete.  The official results are in and I finished the 21km in 1 hour 48 minutes and 19 seconds. The race report and photos are now available here:  http://uk.geocities.com/irene_kiener/photos_Double_Whammy_3.htm.  I said I definitely wanted to finish in under 2 hours and I'd be happy with anything under 1 hour 50 minutes, so... I'm happy :-)

Don't forget, I pay all of my training, equipment and travel costs myself.  So every penny you give in sponsorship goes straight to Cancer Research.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many of you will remember me saying in past years what a difference your money really does make to me on the day.  And it's really true.  When I've been tired, hot, in pain and wanted to stop, it's the thought of knowing that your money is riding on me that has kept me going.  Another year, and Michelle asking for money again, but do please give what you can.  It helps no end to keep me going, but more importantly, keeps the work of Cancer Research going.  Thanks to their work, every year more and more lives are saved all round the world, allowing more people to spend time with their families, see their children grow up, or just be able to live without pain.  Your money really does make all this happen.

For the London Triathlon last year we raised £1491.00.  For more details have a look at:

I wonder what we can manage for The Double Whammy?  Many thanks for your continued support.
