If you’re asking why I would want to raise money for this charity, it's because I suffered from septicaemia in my early 20’s.  The symptoms were flu-like: sore throat, headache, stiff neck…  I thought it wasn't more than a bad migrane!  Only to find out, when my mum took me to the doctor, that I had to be admitted to hospital immediately, and - straight into intensive care! Every time I come across meningitis in the media, on the internet, and on various parent & child websites – I’m more and more thankful that I am here to tell the tale. 

When meningitis strikes it can turn your world upside down.  Every year more than 3,000 people will get meningitis in the UK, and it will kill more children under the age of five than any other infectious disease.  The Meningitis Trust is there to provide support and care for life to all those affected by the disease, and to help save lives by raising awareness about the disease.  To find out more about the disease, and the work of the Meningitis Trust, visit their website at www.meningitis-trust.org.
