Asics British 10K London Run · 6 July 2008 ·

Dementia Concern is a local organisation that provides emotional support and practical services to meet the changing needs of people with dementia and their carers.

Story

On July 6th, I will be running in the 10k Great British Run through central London. Starting at Hyde Park Corner, the race will take me, and about 25,000 others down Picadilly, down the Embankment to Tower Bridge and back to Big Ben at Westminster Bridge. So why am I doing this? As some of you may know, my mom, Betty, suffers from Dementia/Alzheimer's Disease. She is doing well but the spectre of this illness is daunting. No one knows what the progression of the disease may be. While I'm not nearby her to help out as much as I wish I could, I'm hoping by raising a bit of money for Alzheimer's Concern, Ealing (that's the area I live in London, UK), I can make a small difference. Have a look at the short clip taken from a recent BBC documentary called 'Mum and Me'. It was made by a neighbour of mine, Sue Bourne, about her mum, Ethel. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Concern Ealing will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. If you would prefer making a pledge for cash, I can forward the amount raised to Alzheimers Concern Ealing.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
