Story

COUCH POTATO, CHOCOHOLIC, CHAIN SMOKING, TELLY ADDICT who HAS JUST COMPLETED THE LONDON MARATHON!!!

OK so it took me 6hrs 42 minutes, but the journey has been unforgettable and I plan to carry on running to raise funds for and awareness of NCH so please carry on supporting me.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me, both financially by donating to NCH, and those of you who have given me practical support, words of encouragement and helped to make the journey easier and more enjoyable.  You know who you are and I won't embarrass you by naming you individually.

As I have previously said I intend to carry on working on behalf of NCH as long as they'll have me and the reason is very personal to me.  It took a lot of guts for me to share this with everyone, so please carry on reading to find out why NCH?

As a child I was sexually abused.  I didn't confide in my parents or friends.  I didn't tell anyone what was happening to me.  Instead I kept the secret hidden away for years until it had to come out.

As a Mum of three great kids, I found things difficult, small things that people take for granted became extremely hard, like giving my children a bath.

Thanks to the help and support of NCH, the Children's Charity I am no longer ashamed about what happened to me and it has taken years for me to realise that the abuse I suffered wasn't my fault.  I didn’t cause the abuse and there was nothing I could have done as a child to prevent it.

I believe that ALL CHILDREN should be able to live a life FREE FROM FEAR of abuse because I know how that had affected me in my adult years.

My first wish would be to stop abuse altogether, if this is not possible, then I will do everything in my power to ensure that there are services such as Number 28, a project based in Nottingham, that will give children the help they need.

Please help me to ensure that services are available to children who have been traumatised by sexual abuse and make a donation to help.

Your donation WILL make a difference, thank you for your support.
