Story
Yes, I know I said I'd never run it again, but then life intervenes, an important cause comes along, and for the sake of a few months of plodding the pavements, I get to help it out a bit. Next thing you know, I'm putting on my running shoes and slumping out of the door...
For several reasons, I'm running for Breakthrough Breast Cancer this year, and I'm inviting you all to enjoy my pain in order to help a really important cause. For much of the last six months I've complained about aching bones and muscles, and been grumpy, miserable and irritable. Nothing new there, but on top of that, I've been training for the marathon, too...
There's now less than a week to go, and there's no more training to be done. If my legs won't do it now, there's nothing I can physically do about it. The only thing you can do, through the simple act of sponsorship, is emotionally blackmail me to keep on plodding on Sunday morning. Think about it - your cash guarantees my pain. It's the deal you'd always dreamed of, and it's now both available and legal. And don't think I can't see the flicker of a smile dart across your face at the thought...
I'll do the running bit then, if you'll do the sponsoring bit. Get your cards out, tap in a few numbers, and feel good about yourself. Then think of me, slogging around the streets of South London, and chuckle a bit more...
Huge thanks to all the people who have sponsored me 'off-line' as well - Boris Skulczuk, Jez Stephenson, Cara Sloman, Malcolm Vallerius, the Woodcock family, Jon Edwards, Clare Meade, Philip Statman, Eve Maguire and Chris Powell.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Breakthrough Breast Cancer will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Thanks folks.
