Story
Yes, I'm running it again - the fourth time. Another four after this, I reckon, and my ankle will tell me that it's time to stop. I always was a slow learner, but while you're able, you should...
I'm running for the Prostate Cancer Charity again, because they're still wonderful people, the disease still kills one man an hour and it remains the case that, if they had some more money, they could reduce that figure. It's a simple equation. It must be for me to understand it.
Over the last year I also did the London Duathlon for them, and the sorry mess pictured on the left only got in that state because the cause was important to him. There are also, of course, many other good causes in the world and money is tight right now, but if you could give something - anything - just to show support, then the whole thing will have been a success, no matter how long I take to slog round the course this time.
Running the London Marathon may not be particularly original or unusual any more - everyone knows someone who's run it and there are no mountains or wild animals (although Deptford can be tasty) - but it's a chance for thousands of ordinary people to do something together for things that matter to them. None of it would matter if it wasn't for people like you donating a few pounds to show that you care, too. Thank you.
As well as online donations, huge thanks also to those who have donated off-line, in the good, old-fashioned way. Malcolm Vallerius, Chris Powell and Cara Sloman.
There now follows the official bit on the bottom of the sponsor form. I'm off for a run. Cheers -
