About our charity
:
Sailors’ Society
The Sailors' Society provides a personal lifeline for seafarers on board and when they step ashore. Existing to enrich and enhance the well-being of seafarers in port through its Port Chaplains and centres, seafarers are offered practical help and wellfare, spiritual support and when in dire need, financial assistance and family liason. Our Port Chaplains visit thousands of ships during the year and are often the first to notice when all is not well on board.
Reaching out to crew members of all ranks, without distinction for race, denomination, ethnic background or nationality, the Chaplains of the Sailors' Society offer a friendly presence, unconditionally greeting seafarers where they meet them. Working in a hundred ports and 30 countries the Chaplains regularly visit ships to dispense phone cards, news print from home, local knowledge, or transport to crews in nearby centres where facilities such as telephone and internet access are available.

| Our personal message: |
Middleton Potts is proud to once again be entering a team in the Three Peaks Challenge in June this year. The Challenge is in aid of the Sailors’ Society, which is a charity directed at providing essential financial and practical assistance to merchant seafarers and their families worldwide, regardless of race, nationality or religion. Its work is hugely valuable to many seamen and their families, from whose labours we all benefit directly or indirectly. Details of the charity appear on its website http://www.sailors-society.org.The Challenge is to climb and descend three mountains in Great Britain: Ben Nevis in Scotland, Helvellyn in England and Snowdon in Wales, all within 24 hours including travel between the climbs. Our team includes one of our partners, Paul Taylor, one of our assistant solicitors, Rupert Talbot-Garman, and one of our trainee solicitors, Federica Cozzani. The firm is sponsoring its team and hopes that you will want to contribute to this worthwhile cause. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated by the firm, our Challenge Team and, most importantly, by those whom the Sailor’s Society tries so hard to help. Donating through this website is easy and secure. Better still, the Sailor’s Society will receive donations more swiftly if made through this website and, if you pay tax in the United Kingdom, your donation will be grossed up by 28% in respect of tax, at no cost to you, because of the charitable status of the Sailor’s Society. We are extremely grateful to you for all the support you can give us and thank you for visiting this website.
