On 20th July, I will be one of 8,500 very nervous cyclists lined up in the blazing Provence sunshine to take part in the 2009 Etape Du Tour. The route for this year finishes at the top of Mont Ventoux, a 21 km climb described by Lance Armstrong as the hardest climb in Europe and apparently he is quite good at cycling!! The bad news is that by the time we reach the beginning of this nasty little mountain, we will have already done 146 kilometres incorporating 4 summits. The total race is 167 kilometres and it really is nasty, for those interested in the world of cycling there is loads of information about the Etape at:

It seems pretty stupid to undertake this day of extreme pain without raising a few quid for charity so please support me by giving generously in support of Cheltenham's Star College, an amazing charity that helps young disabled people discover their potential and help prepare them for adult life whilst dealing with all manner of complex disabilities. The college are desperately trying to raise funds for their next phase of development and need all the help they can get.
I appreciate that there are many people undertaking all sorts of endeavours for charity and really appreciate any donation however small.
Thanks very much!
Mike
