CHANNEL SWIM FOR CANCER RESEARCH. DONATIONS WANTED!!!!!!
On Friday 29 August 2008, and after a week of waiting for the weather to improve... WE DID IT!!!!!
12 hours, 51 minutes, and 48 seconds after setting off from Shakespeare Beach, Andy and Mike landed on the sandy shores of France, just to the North East of Cap Gris-Nez. We were lucky to have a perfect day, flat seas and overcast skies, and jellyfish only spotted once in 34 miles of swimming (well done to Nick for not getting stung!).
Many tears have been shed and much champagne has been consumed, and none of us will be visiting a pool for a while!
Yeehah!!! Well done Andy, Ede, Ellie, Tash and Nick...

This is easily the daftest thing I've ever undertaken, but something I've always wanted to achieve. This is a 24 miles (tide willing) open water swim to France, as one of a team of five. It will be cold.
We'll be swimming with the Channel Swimming and Piloting Authority, and spend an hour at a time in the water in the busiest sea lane in the world, sometimes in the dark. The team all have different charities that they care for, I have wanted to aid cancer since college. My last swim was for MacMillan nurses, and the big bike ride for the BHF.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. You can follow our progress here:

So please sponsor me now! Now then, which way to France?! Thanks, Mike
