The London Marathon Sunday 25 April 2010 – Lepra Health in Action

Please sponsor Mike Anderson to run the The London Marathon for LEPRA Health in Action. Yes that’s right – 26 miles and the rest. All donations gratefully received.

LEPRA Health in Action is a medical development charity with a long history of restoring health, hope and dignity to people affected by leprosy and other diseases of poverty. The charity currently works in some of the poorest communities of nine developing countries, where local teams work closely with the most disadvantaged people.

The charity seeks to address not only leprosy prevention and treatment, but also other diseases of poverty including Lymphatic Filariasis, TB, HIV and malaria. Through providing health education in communities, training local staff, setting up specialist referral services and refurbishing hospitals and surgeries, LEPRA is working alongside vulnerable communities to help put people’s health in their own hands.

LEPRA’s work will continue to be reliant on the support of the British public, until diseases like leprosy and the poverty that fuels them are a thing of the past
