Saint Francis Hospice is a leading provider of palliative care for people living in Havering, Brentwood, Redbridge, Barking & Dagenham. We care for people from 18 years of age, of any race or religion, who have a life limiting illness due to cancer, heart disease, motor neurone disease or respiratory disease and we provide physical, spiritual and emotional care and support to patients and their families.

Story

Hi,

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. In August I shall be cycling from John O'Groats in Scotland to Lands End in Cornwall to raise money for St Francis Hospice who cared for myNan when she was coming to the end of her battle against cancer. For those of you who have had loved ones treated by the Hospice will know what a great job they do for little reward.

When my mate suggested the trip to me I thought "yeah no worries, it will be easy". With geography in Scotland not being a strong point of mine I did not realise John O'Groats was the most northern point in the UK!  I must have been drunk....... again!

Still we decided to go for it and start planning. I now ride to work every day and I am now walking normally after several months of walking like John Wayne. Richie aka Captain Slow is the worse person I’ve ever seen on a bike, so it's going to be tough going as we hope to complete the 900+ miles trip in 10 days.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Saint Francis Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now, it's going to be a hard trip, and for anyone that knows Richie will know that spending 10 days with him is going to be hard work. As for the cycling I’m more confident about that!

Thanks in advance!

Mike (aka Dick Dastardly)
