Story
Mike Cullen was a fit and healthy 68-year old keen golfer, loving husband and caring father and grandfather.
On 4th September 2008, whilst enjoying a round of golf, he suffered a massive heart attack and collapsed on the course. Despite the valiant efforts of local paramedics and the air ambulance he sadly died, it is believed, sometime en route to hospital.
The air ambulance took 12 minutes to respond from it's base some 30 miles away in Blackpool and landed directly on the golf course in tricky conditions, whilst in vain on this occasion, shows how critical their continued operation is in providing vital support to the emergency services in the North West of England. Their operation is entirely funded by charitable donations, and despite their inability to assist in saving Mike in this occasion, his location would have made it impossible for any emergency vehicle to reach help in time had the air ambulance not been in operation.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to support the North West Air Ambulance, who get your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Please help support this worthwhile cause and continuing to keep this service going to the benefit of everyone.
Thanks for your support.
