Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
We completed the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride last weekend (13th July) to raise money for Christie's Hospital in Manchester, one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe.
The team consisted of me (team helper...although I never did need to push anyone....so well done you three!) and the admin officer (my wife, Fiona), the deputy head (Lynn) and the acting head (Claire) of Leftwich Primary School in Cheshire. All three have been affected by the severe illness of the previous headmistress (Sue) who, after having several years in remission, has recently been diagnosed with cancer again.
Christies help people like Sue to have a better quality of life and do sterling work in cancer care and in the development of new treatments.
The ride went well and all four of us survived the journey, which thankfully benefitted from great weather, enjoying a bacon butty each after 20 miles and an ice cream at Preston with 20 miles to go, just to keep up our energy reserves!!
With Fiona, Claire and Lynn collecting money via the School, the Justgiving.com website and some fundraising activity we did at a summer fair last Saturday, we have managed to raise over £1,000 so far. So many thanks for your help!
The justgiving.com website will remain open for donations for another 30 days so please do feel free to make a donation if you haven’t already….the money goes straight to Christies….
Just to give you a flavour of our journey, I’ve attached a photo taken on arrival in Blackpool……we felt even worse than we looked (so we must have felt pretty bad!)….
Once again, many thanks for your support
Mike, Fiona, Claire and Lynn
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Christie's gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
