Story

Hello everyone, thanks for visiting my page and hopefully you can support this worthwhile cause.

A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SPONSORED AND SUPPORTED ME.

THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO MADE THIS HAPPEN AND IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER I WOULD ESPECIALLY LIKE TO THANK ROB JASPER, DONNA ADAMSON & CARL HANNARD AT BAE SYSTEMS, ALAN EVES FOR RIDING WITH ME TO COLCHESTER, SIG AND ANDRIJ FOR SAFELY AND QUICKLY GETTING ME TO HYDE PARK CORNER, THE FRIDAY NIGHTERS, TEAM ASTANA - ANDY, JACK, LUKE, MARTIN, ALISTAIR & DES FOR THE SPEEDY RETURN FROM BOGNOR TO LONDON, GOD FOR LOOKING OUT FOR MARTIN'S HANDLEBARS, AND LASTLY MY WIFE GEMMA FOR HER FULL SUPPORT AND COMPLETE CONFIDENCE IN ME MAKING THIS HAPPEN.

AFTER THE "EVERYTHING WENT VERY WELL RIDE" TO COLCHESTER I SET OFF IN HIGH SPIRITS ON FRIDAY, STOPPED AT A MORRISONS IN DEEPEST ESSEX FOR SOME TEA AND TO USE THE CASH MACHINE, SHORTLY AFTER IT ALL STARTED TO GO HORRIBLY WRONG, IT'S A VERY LONG STORY, THANK YOU KAYE, BUT I MADE IT TO THE CENOTAPH WITH PLENTY OF TIME TO SPARE, THAT'S ACTUALLY A COMPLETE LIE, AFTER A MANIC RIDE THROUGH THE STREETS OF SOUTH LONDON I MADE IT TO THE CENOTAPH AT 15:55. SO 5 MINS TO SPARE, WHICH WAS PLENTY!!!

HELLO EVERYONE, CURRENTLY AT COLCHESTER, MADE IT DOWN IN ONE DAY AND ALL WENT WELL.  FEELING PRETTY GOOD TODAY CONSIDERING AND IN AN HOUR OR SO I'LL BE SETTING OFF FOR MY FIRST VISIT TO LONDON.  WEATHER IS DRY AND FINE AND THERE IS NOT MUCH WIND, IDEAL CYCLING WEATHER.  NEXT UPDATE WILL BE AFTER COMPLETION, 24 HOURS AND 200 ish MILES AWAY

THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH EVERYONE FOR THE SPONSORS, SUPPORT AND BEST WISHES.  I AM NOW JUST A MATTER OF HOURS AWAY FROM SETTING OFF ON THIS EPIC ADVENTURE. THE WEATHER DON'T LOOK GREAT SO I MAY GET A BIT WET BUT HEY I CAN LIVE WITH THAT.  FOR ANYONE VISITING THIS PAGE FOR THE FIRST TIME YOU CAN STILL PLEDGE YOUR SUPPORT AND IT IS GRATEFULLY RECEIVED.

SPEAK TO YOU ALL SOON, WITH NO DOUBT A FEW STORIES TO TELL!!!!!!!!!!!

My name is Mike, I am 41 and I work for BAE Systems at Brough, were some of the work we undertake is keeping frontline aircraft in service. Being a keen cyclist I have decided to set myself a challenging target of riding my fixed wheel bike over 350 miles from Hull in Yorkshire to London, but not the easy way (if there is one!) my route will take me to Colchester, into London, but then a return trip to Bognor Regis on the south coast before returning to central London sometime on Saturday afternoon.

I will be setting off at 04:00 on Thursday 6th August to arrive at the Cenotaph in Central London before 16:00 on Saturday 8th August.  Along the way many friends will be joining and supporting me, at the moment I have not factored in sleeping but may have to consider a snooze at some point along the way!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure.  It's also the most efficient way to sponser me: Help for Heroes gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid plus a 3% supplement are added to your donation.

Thank you in anticipation of your donations,

Mike
