This August I'll be panting my way around the olympic-distance London Triathlon course to raise money for Concern Universal, a fantastic charity that works in partnership with local communities in the world's poorest areas to fight poverty.

The money we raise will make a real difference to the lives of people who struggle under the burden of extreme poverty. It'll tackle immediate problems like putting food on the table or allowing access to clean drinking water.

For example £10 will buy a bag of cereal seed for an east African farmer, £20 will buy a bee hive to help start a bee-keeping cooperative in Nigeria or £75 will train a midwife in Bangladesh.

The triathlon is made up of a 1.5 km swim, a 40 km cycle and a 10k run. In return for your hard-earned cash, I promise I'll strain every last sinew to set my fastest possible time.
