Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Amanda died in her sleep, on 12 Oct 08, when her heart stopped for no apparent reason! Amanda was a loving, caring young adult who I know would be so proud of you all for supporting Cardiac Risk in the Young (C-R-Y) with their research efforts to stop our children and young adults from dying so young in the future.

This year Dave Bentley and I will once again be swimming, cycling and running to raise funds on behalf of C-R-Y. So I have run a marathon, completed the London Duathlon and then Dave had the fantastic idea (not for my legs) of cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats !!!! Boy that one hurt.

Last year was the London Triathlon and the Monster Triathlon, 1.9 KM Swim, followed by a 58 mile Bike and a Half Marathon run....gulp.

A few years older now so its really time to test the metal again and take on the London Marathon (we really are getting too old for this).

Please support us for this gruelling event with your donations through this Just Giving site, and please visit our Facebook (miles-for-amandas-smile) page where you can read about our training and receive updates as to how we are getting on. Many thanks in advance for all your kindness.
