Toby, Quentin and Carl drive from London to Cape Town · 15 March 2010
On March 15th 2010, Toby, Carl and Quentin will set off in our trusty Toyota Land Cruiser, with high hopes of reaching the African Cape, just over a hundred days later. In conjunction, we are hoping to raise awareness and money for the Halo Trust. We are hoping to raise £1 for every one of the 9671 kilometers (although kilometers for mines didn't have the same ring) between London and Cape Town.
The Halo Trust deals with the removal of mines from current and previous war-torn countries. While the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan are a constant reminder of the impact high-explosives can have on civilian and servicemen’s lives, it is important not to forget areas currently out of the media spotlight where such devices still remain a threat. The Halo Trust really does an amazing job and what we raise will go some way to helping eradicate such dangers in countries like Angola and Mozambique - countries which we will be privileged enough to visit.
