My story

Hi guys,

Thankyou for visiting this page. Just a quick insight into my reasons for doing this ride from Carlisle in north Cumbria to Newquay in north Cornwall which is roughly 700km.

Im raising money for St. Michael's Hospice in Hastings.

For the first 12 years of my life i was brought up by the most incredible nanny, Helen. She was a loving, fun and a superb 'mum' to me while both my parents worked away from home. 6 years ago, Helen was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which after numerous operations and chemo, she made a good recovery. Late last year she had a serious relapse causing her to be taken to St. Michael's Hospice where she sadly passed away 3 weeks ago, leaving 2 beautiful young daughters and a fantastic man, who all loved her dearly.

Im raising money for the fantastic nurses at the hospice, who did so much for Helen and her family through these awful times.

Thankyou for your help everyone.

Miles x

Post Ride:

After a very wet and windy 6 days, we completed the ride, with 2 flat tyre's, 3 knackered knees, 4 (very) sore bums and 8 tired legs!!

After a slightly delayed start due to witnessing a fire in sheffield as we left, we didn't get to carlisle until 7am the morning we started!! after a couple hours sleep, we set off and completed out 75 miles. The wind and the rain battered us for the first 2 days, but calmed down for our longest day from chester to worcester, clocking in at just over 100 miles. after day 4 the aches and pains started to take they're toll on us all, but due to copious amounts of painkillers and nurofen gel....we battled on!! after loosing one member of the team in barnstable due to work commitments we started the last day with four of us and met a friend who joined us for a few miles to the end. arriving in Newquay after dozens of "this is definately the last hill..." comments, we were greeted by friends and family, before stripping off in the pouring rain and sprinting straight into the sea!!!

Thank you so much for everyones continued support, as you can see I've smashed my target, which is great, in helping St. Micheals Hospice continue to care and support for all those using the amazing services they provide.
