Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
For those of you who don't know, Ben's dad, John Millard passed away in 2006 after a long fight with Cancer. The last few weeks of his life were made bearable only by the unwavering care and attention that he was given by the staff at the St Clare Hospice in Harlow. The level of care he received was amazing, and the whole family were glad that he chose to spend his final days there.
That level of care however comes at a cost, and the Hospice has to rely on charitable donations for 75% of its running costs. These amount to a staggering £2000 a day. We hope therefore that you can help us in our efforts to contribute to this very worthwhile institution.
In order to raise money for the Hospice Ben and Andrew are intending to trek for 10 days across the Peruvian Andes, finishing at Machu Picchu. This will not be along the usual and more easy tourist route, and as you can imagine, will be no stroll in the park. It will require a full 6 months of training ahead of their departure in May 2008 and to give you an idea of what it will involve, an average day will consist of waking between 03.45 and 05.45 and trekking at high altitude, on mountainous terrain, and through jungle for approximately 8 hours!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: St Clare West Essex Hospice Care Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
