About our charity : Ovarian cancer action Ovarian cancer action
Ovarian cancer action is the leading ovarian cancer charity in the UK. Ovarian cancer action funds research into ovarian cancer, raises awareness of the disease and gives a voice to women affected by it. Ovarian cancer kills 12 women a day in the UK, and survival rates are low at 30%, compared to 80% for breast cancer. We urgently need to raise £10million for the new Ovarian cancer action research centre, at Imperial College London – the UK’s first ever research facility entirely dedicated to ovarian cancer. Thanks to a large increase in research spending on breast cancer, survival rates have increased by over 20% in the last decade. Ovarian cancer action believes that, with the same input, we can make a similar impact on ovarian cancer.

Our personal message:

Thanks for visiting our page. After a few of the lads did charity runs in the last year it was decided the team as whole would do one. There had to be one way to get Jules fit again!

The run we decided on is the Barts Hospital 10k in Victoria Park (Hackney) an area the team know well.

The charity we have decided to donate to is the Ovarian Cancer Action. Unfortunately in March this year Simon Heard's mum, Jill Boon, lost her 5 year battle with ovarian cancer. A few of us attended the funeral and it was clear to see that throughout that time she was not only very brave but a positive inspriation to all those around her. It is in Jill's honour that we will all be running.

So any cash you can spare to sponsor this worthy cause whilst helping a few middle aged blokes get fit for football, it will be greatly received.
