Hello!

After 6 years of 5K races and even one attempt at a 10K charity race last year, my running friend; Miss Shepherd, and I were discussing our running progress and up coming challenges and as we didn't have one we though why not be silly and attempt to run 10 miles for charity.

When I registered for my place in The Great South Run on a sunny October afternoon almost a year ago the 25^th October 2009 seemed a long way off but now its here and in just over a month. I have been running well for my training around the North London area and I'm even fitting in runs during lunch at work where I always end up running for longer than I planned as I get lost! Some things never change.

I don't enjoy running and I'm not very good at it but during my training my one motto is to never stop, it doesn't matter how slow I go I just must never stop. One thing that helps me to keep going is knowing that all the preparation I am doing is going towards hopefully coming closer to making advances for the treatment of Alzheimer's and Dementia.

Currently there are 700,000 people in the UK have Alzheimer's and Dementia and by 2025 this figure will rise to over 1 million people. 1 in 3 people over the age of 65 will die with either Alzheimer's or Dementia.

My mum works in a care home and Alzheimer's and Dementia is a truly cruel disease.
