In December 2005 My Wife and our two small children were all killed in a avoidable collision on the A1 in Cambridgeshire. I received countless offers of help but  I turned to Cruse Bereavement Care for help and support in those dark and difficult days. I received counselling for nearly 18 months and I can honestly say I would not be writing this today if it had not been for the help I received through Cruse, and the support of my family and friends.

On 10th September 2006 19 friends and family ran the Nottingham marathon in memory of my family, and to raise awareness and funds for Cruse. We called it Mission Possible, and in total collected over £30,000 which was a lifeline for Cruse. Even though it is not a high profile charity, the work they do is just as important.

On 6th July 2008 we are planning the sequel Mission Possible 2. We are planning to run in the British 10k around the streets of London. We wanted to run a distance that more people would be able to complete ( and the fact that we are all still carrying injuries from our last run).  Even though the distance is shorter, for some it will still take a huge amount of effort. We plan to raise funds and awareness for the excellent work that Cruse continue to do.

I think it is too easy to forget the help that we have been given when we were in need.

As soon as we start trying to move forward with our lives the help, and support that has been given seems a distant memory. I know I will never forget the help I was given, and I know my friends and family will not either. I would hope that by sponsoring us it shows that you will not have forgotten as well.

On a day when we encountered all the weather changes you could imagine, we all completed the run. For some it was a very painful experience but very worthwhile.

A big thank you to everyone that supported us on the day, and to all the people that have donated to such a worthy cause that is so close to my heart. It is because of your generosity that charities can support people the way they do.
