John O'Groats to Lands End - 980 miles · 15 May 2013

We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

Well, the running has finally beaten me, the hideous ‘blistereyness’ it causes to my feet has led me to hop on to a bicycle, and I love it! My BMC is going to be my new BFF (and I’m sure worst enemy at times; Read on).

...2013 also being my 30th this year, I wanted to do something that really counts...so I signed up for this ‘little’ JOGLE expedition from the deep dark early hours of Saturday 8th June leaving John O’Groats, and all going well; my BFF, my BMC will be my chariot to Lands End (hopefully at not such a dark hour!) on Sunday 16th June…to a wonderful welcoming committee! (I presume you’re on to this mum?!).

This does however mean that in-between these dates I will need to cycle approx. 110 miles a day for 9 days straight... I will be cycling in aid of an amazing cause, C.A.L.M. the wonderful charity that I wish my little (big) bro knew about.

It's 9 years this year (01/05/2004), time flies, but it also means that there have been 9 years worth of more suicides and young men suffering in silence. I am proud to be able to continue my support, to be apart of something that encourages people to open up, and divert away from the path Sam chose.

I have experienced the wonderful things that C.A.L.M. do, so I ask you to support my cycle, support C.A.L.M. and support the young men out there that we all love so dearly, and help to keep them close to us, not just in our hearts.

If you are able to donate in monetary value, C.A.L.M. will use it to support their free phonelines (the only ones available in the UK!) and keep those chappies chatting. I promise to post photo's and fingers crossed a mini-film of the amazing scenery that our United Kingdom offers us from top to bottom, maybe a few beetroot faced shots....and definitely any injuries that should occur! I'm not convinced I'll get by Scot-free! I may, just, possibly, maybe, be in the best shape ever for my 30th too! Bonus! If you are not able to, please pass on this information to those that can.

Thanks to you all, for your donations & support and much love in advanced,

Lauren x
