Story
Allison Taylor aka Tina Sparkle, has been in and out of St Oswald’s Hospice for a few years now but lost her valiant battle on the morning of Saturday 20th March. In honour of her bravery, courage and ability to defeat adversity as well as acknowledging the fantastic work of St Oswald’s, Allison's youngest daughter Nichola, niece Gemma, sister in law, Caroline and mother in law, Janice and I will be taking part in the St Oswald’s 10k Midnight Walk on Saturday 3rd July.
I was part of last year’s event alongside 1200 walkers and collectively we raised £113,000 which is fantastic. I “ran” the “walk” last year with Allison’s name written on the space provided on my bib. ’s numbers aren’t allocated until the day of the event and to my initial horror, mine was “666” then to my amazement, I realised that Allison’s birthday is 6th June 1966! Incredible isn’t it?! If you would like to join us, please register for the event using the St Oswald’s website and feel free to use this fundraising page to raise money, let us know and we’ll add your name to the team. If 10k seems too energetic, then why not volunteer to marshal the event? If you are unable to do either, then please help us to help others by sponsoring us to do the 10k midnight walk. St Oswald's provides hospice care for adults and children in its purpose-built facilities offering a range of flexible services to North East families and follows a holistic approach that aims to address not just physical symptoms, but also spiritual and emotional needs too. Their annual running costs exceed £8 million – of which over £6 million must be raised through voluntary giving. They make no charge for any of their services, ensuring hospice care is available to everyone. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to St Oswald’s and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. So please dig deep and donate what you can – no matter how small, every single penny counts. Thank you so much, Claire, Nichola, Gemma, Caroline and Janice. x
