Hello - thanks for visiting my Kiya Fundraising page.
I volunteered for Kiya Survivors 4 years ago & loved every minute. It was one of the most inspirational things I have ever done. So when I heard that the charity was falling dangerously short of its monthly target I wanted to help.
If you don't know Kiya, Kiya Survivors is a Peruvian charity building and working in educational centres catering to special-needs, abused and abandoned children, offering them therapy, housing and the love and support they need to lead an empowered & positive future. A few pounds can do an awful lot - here are just a few examples:
* £5 buys bulbs for the Kiya vegetable garden meaning free food!
* £10 buys 2 chickens providing nutritious eggs as well as an education for kids in how to care for animals
* £20 buys a selection of essential books for the kids
* £30 buys a months supply of essential vitamins for all the children in the centre
* £50 buys a month's petrol for an outreach van offering support & therapy to remote villages
Thank you to the very generous souls who have already donated.
Background to this fundraising page
When I heard that Kiya Survivors was falling dangerously short of its monthly target (mainly due to the credit crunch) I wanted to help. Which led to Kiya Uncovered - a photo exhibition in Brighton I'm arranging with Kiya to raise awareness of the charity. We hope the pictures will speak louder than words!
The exhibition will take place on 14th August at Naked Eye Gallery & we want everyone to come. But if you can't make it or want to give a little to help a LOT right now, please pledge a few pounds - it all helps immensely whatever the size.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy & totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Kiya Survivors gets your money faster &, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
All your donatlons will make a massive help and be huuuuuuuuuuugely appreciated, as I know I'm asking at a time when things are tight here too.
