Cystic Fibrosis is one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases. It affects over 9,000 youngsters, clogging vital organs with thick sticky mucus. There is presently no cure. We are the UK’s only national charity working for families with CF and to find a cure.

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the UK’s most common life-threatening inherited disease
Cystic
Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and
digestive system, by clogging them with thick, sticky mucus. This makes
it hard to breathe and digest food.
Average life expectancy is
around 31 years and, although improvements in treatments mean a baby
born today could expect to live longer, there is no cure for CF and
lung transplantation is often the only option. Most individuals with
cystic fibrosis die young, many in their 20s and 30s from lung failure.
Each week, 3 YOUNG LIVES are lost to Cystic Fibrosis.
We
are aiming to raise a lot of money to go to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust
to help towards research and care for those suffering from CF, so
please give generously.
For my part
i have lived with cysticfibrosis all my life along with my older brother. since the age of 13 i have been in and out of hospital with chest infections, and recently in the last year been diagnosed with diabetes, of insulin dependance, which is one of the outcomes through cysticfibrosis.
i have seen many of friends who also have cysticfibrosis who are in and out with all kinds of stuff including chest infections, and some that haven't even made it this far.
It is uncertain to the life expectancy each and every individual with the illness has. Which is why we need help raising money to find a cure for this very progressive illness.
