Last year my Mum was diagnosed with PSP, or Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.  When she was first diagnosed none of our family had ever heard of PSP.  Initially the medical experts thought she had Parkinson's Disease, which displays some of the same symptoms.  PSP is a degenerative brain disease, which slowly robs the sufferer of their ability to walk, talk, see, or use any of their muscles until the person eventually becomes locked into their own body.  There is no known cure for PSP.

The PSP Association is the only organisation in Ireland or the UK that supports sufferers of PSP through research into possible cures and the provision of palliative care.  If you would like to learn more about the disease have a look at their website: www.pspeur.org

With a view to offering support for the great work that the PSP Association carry out I am aiming to cycle from Mizen Head to Malin Head at the end of August.  Mizen is the most southerly point in Ireland and Malin is the most northerly point in Ireland.  The route I intend to take is about 525 miles which I will cover over 6 days.  Have a look at the route here: http://ridewithgps.com/users/12015/routes
