We are radically advancing research to achieve a life free from epilepsy

Story

In 2009, Joshua (Jason & Jo's son and Mark's nephew) was diagnosed with Juvenile Absence Epilepsy, resulting in regular and obvious seizures.

A typical absence seizure consisted of a sudden loss of awareness. Joshua would suddenly stop any activities and stare blankly into space and would be unresponsive to voice. The seizure would also include repetitive, purposeless movements of his eyes.

This loss of awareness and focus can be disruptive but also dangerous. School work can suffer and simply swimming or riding a bike had it's risks.

Joshua has been seizure free since his diagnosis, due to the daily medication he has to take. Medication that he is likely to need well into his teenage years, when hopefully he will have grown out of it.

Epilepsy Research UK helps people like "our Joshua" to lead a near normal life, so 26.2 miles is an insignificant distance considering the journey some people have to take.

So PLEASE, help us along the way and help raise money for a worthy cause.
