Story

Welcome to our JustGiving page!

We (Martin, Neil and Paul) are running the Berlin Marathon on 20th September 2009 in aid of the RNLI.

Why Berlin and why a marathon? Well, let's say that one day we were in a pub concerned that we were all approaching 30, and the next day we'd agreed to run a marathon together! The RNLI is a charity we've all have had interactions with and one we think does excellent work. We chose Berlin as it was the next marathon we'd have time to train for.

This isn't going to be easy as, it is fair to say, none of us has really been born blessed with long-distance running abilities! The training has so far been painful. But, having all run over half the distance in one stint, we're in the final stretch now...

We have pledged to raise £1,000 each for the RNLI.

The RNLI is the charity that provides a 24-hour lifesaving service around the UK and Republic of Ireland. 40,000 people around the UK volunteer their time to the RNLI each year. Your donations will help them save lives.

We hope that the companies that we work for will match our fundraising efforts (as far as possible). Therefore if you are sponsoring us individually please add a (M), (N) or (P) after your name so we can reclaim the appropriate money. If you know and/or want to sponsor us all, don't add anything and we'll split that contribution into three and each get our firms to match a third of it.

If you can Gift Aid your donation, please do! The Gift Aid won't apply to the matched aspect of your donation though. But potentially every pound you donate will actually be worth £2.28 to the cause. The Justgiving website's fee is 5% of the donation.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
