My personal message:

I am trying to raise funds to support a new charity - Pelvic Instability Network Scotland (PINS) through taking part in the Mull of Kintrye Half Marathon and 10km event on the 25th May 2008.

PINS supports people with Pelvic Girdle Pain (formerly Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction),a condition which causes pain and mobility difficulties, commonly affecting women during or after pregnancy. 1 in 5 pregnant women are affected to some degree with 1 in 20 of those having serious problems with pain and mobility. Untreated 1 in 12 women still have symptoms postnatally, sometimes for prolonged periods of time and  women affected  are often isolated at home in varying degrees of pain and immobility and with young children to care for.

This condition has affected all 3 of my pregnancies causing prolonged pain and immobility after my second one in 2002. At that time I didn't know how to access appropriate treatment as awareness is poor amongst health professionals and I spent the first year of my daughters life getting around on a mobility scooter and requiring full time help at home as I was unable to lift or care for my baby.

During my third pregnancy I was able to access appropriate treatment   at an early stage and recovered fully afterwards and have really enjoyed active and being out and about with my baby this time round.

Taking part in the 10km event is a great confidence booster for me having had such problems with mobility previously.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Pelvic Instability Network Scotland will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
