Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page, which has been set up to help us raise money for the Royal British Legion.

Choppers Message:

As many of you will know I served in the Royal Navy for several years. During this time in service I never really considered the work of the Royal British Legion. The importance of the work done and support provided by the Legion became obvious and very important to me when, after my having left the Navy, I was at university in Portsmouth.

During my second year I had a severe cash flow issue and thought that I would have to drop out. I was desperate to stay and finish university and so decided to ask the Legion for help. They sent a lovely old couple round to my student hovel who assessed my needs. The Legion gave me £800 which enabled me to get through the year and ultimately complete university.

The work of the Legion covers many areas from maintaining care homes for our elderly vetrans to giving both emotional and financial support to serving and ex-servicemen and their families. In particular, it helps those service families who have lost someone on active service, which is very much in the public mind currently with the situation in Afghanistan.

I would bet that nearly all of you know someone who has or is serving in the forces, whether it be grandparents, parents, brothers and sisters, cousins or frineds. One day any one of them may need the help and support of the Legion, so please give all you can to Monkey and me to help us contribute something to this great charity and national institution.

Thanks in advance for all your supprt.

Chopper x

Monkey's Message:

Unlike Mark I do not have first hand experience of the help and support provide by the Legion, but I do have several close friends currently serving in the Middle East. The daily contribution they make to the safety and protection of others makes 26.2 miles look pretty insignifficant.

Many of these friends have young families back here and will not be able to see them this Christmas. For the unlucky few they may possibly never see their families again. Please now spare a second to think about these heros, both past and present and the sacraffice they have and continue to make. £10 does not get you very far in today's world, but it would make a massive difference to some truley amazing people.

Please dig deep and give what ever you can afford. Thank you for taking the time to read this message.

Monkey x
