PAUL HODGSON
Following the success of the Skydive in August last year, in aid of Help for Heroes, I decided I would look for a new challenge to raise money for the new charity for this year, which is the Children’s Air Ambulance.
With my Dad being a paramedic for the last 20 years I felt I needed to do something in honour of the men and women who spend their lives saving others...Swimming across Loch Ness seemed like a good place to start.
In August 2012 the ‘Monster Swim’ will take place with hundreds of people taking part in order to raise money for their chosen charities. The "Big Yin" as it is called is a swim of 1 mile across Loch Ness where conditions can be challenging yet the views down the Loch are awe-inspiring and the feeling of being alone even when you are swimming with others can be exhilarating. Loch Ness holds a staggering more fresh water than all of the other lakes in Great Britain combined. Not only is it the biggest but it has the legendary story of Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster.
When my colleagues found out about the charity swim some decided they would do the swim with me to raise even more money for the Children’s Air Ambulance.
