Story
I will be 40 this year (no really) and so, in a belated attempt to fight the onset of old age, I've decided to climb Europe's highest mountain, Mont Blanc.
In July, I will set off with two pals for Chamonix, and after a few days training on smaller peaks and acclimatising, it will be a final 10hr push for the summit. Laying off the booze and the training schedule is going to be the biggest challenge for me; and so to spur me on, I will be raising money for the Stepping Hill Hospital Neonatal Unit in Stockport.
My eldest daughter Elizabeth was born prematurely, and she spent the first week of her life at Stepping Hill being cared for by the staff at the Neonatal Unit there. The staff do a fantastic job and any money raised will go directly to the unit. This will mean that more children will get the help they need, just when they need it most.
