Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. As Secretary of the SCCT, I have had a nasty pang of conscience !! So many supporters are climbing mountains and running marathons and donating the proceeds to the Trust whilst I sit at home monitoring their efforts. In an attempt to rectify this, I am going to ski down a wonderful black run in Les Contamines (the French Alps near Chamonix) on (or about 10th April 2011) to celebrate my 73rd birthday early in the New Year. I may need to drop into a lovely piste restaurant (called 'La Roselette') half-way down in order to recover and take on a little 'Dutch Courage' (vin chaud). As a low-intermediate skier (see attached video), this should offer quite a challenge (I have tried it once before but finished up skiing most of the away on my backside !!). I will attempt to take a video of the effort and put it onto our website: www.sharkandcoralconservation.com - menu item 'Latest News'. The proceeds from this run will be devoted towards the cost of creating a 5-minute cartoon designed to familiarise 5 - 11 year-old children of the threat of ocean acidification (OA) to our marine food supplies (the cost of this production is likely to be in the region of £60,000 !!). Please donate generously - OA will impact on all of us all too soon and we need (at least) to 'stem the tide' or even help to reverse the trend by spreading awareness of an insidious and pernicious threat !!

5th Apr 2011 - 'Le Tobogan' ski slope was just too icy, but I did manage to get down the adjacent blue run - almost vertical all the way down !! Great fun and thanks again - I have added a bit of video alongside and a couple of photos - Monty
