Flora London Marathon 2006 · 23 April 2006 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

New eBay auction has started!  Please see my eBay auctions, eBay User ID moonrisingUK  Most of the stuff was donated to me by stallholders at an event last weekend.  The response was amazing: only about a quarter of the stuff is up!  So there will be more in weeks to follow...

03 May 2006 News:

On April 23rd I DID 26.2 miles in the Flora London Marathon! It’s been a long journey with nearly 400 miles covered in training. And a lot of those have been painful as I've had many weeks of injury problems, for which I've been seeing a physio. But I did it!

Warning to anyone taking it on though…. the 2-3 days after the event were much more painful than actually doing it!  I had to go down stairs backwards for days, didn’t have a bath on Monday as I was scared of getting stuck in it and having to call the fire brigade to get me out, and am only just getting to be able to walk comfortably!  4-6 weeks to recover is expected and considered normal… but I’m already planning next time!  It was well worth doing!

eBay and Competition

My finishing time was 7:21:01.  First prize winner was a joint prediction by Dawn and Jay, with 7:20:05.  They took the Giles books.  There were also enough entries to add a prize winner slot at the last minute, so second prize went to Debbie Shumaker with a prediction of 7:18:23.  She choose the Aaron Douglas signed candid picture.  I’ve left the competition page up, so that those who want to can check out the remaining prizes at this page .

Coming Soon!

The prizes remaining from the competition will be for sale on eBay soon!  Please check back!

Wanted!

I'm looking for sponsors for the printing of a fundraising magazine: get yourself an advert in return.

Prizes for auction/competition also wanted (including goods, services and money-off vouchers: be inventive!). Will be fully credited if desired.

If you can help please contact me: fundraising@moonrising.biz

Thanks again for your support!

(And yes, you can still sponsor me via this page…. Thank You!)

I'm raising money for the Stroke Association. Stroke is the 3rd largest killer in the UK, the major cause of long-term disability and kills 3 times as many women each year as breast cancer. The Stroke Association funds research, specialist care for stroke patients and helplines.

I'm also doing it for my dad, who's amazing. He's survived heart attacks, a quintuple heart bypass, a thrombosis and several strokes. The strokes have left him with physical and memory problems.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Stroke Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now!
