Story
Celebration Launch
The celebration launch and screening of the first two films for WORLDwrite’s London Behind the Scenes project will take place at:
The new Vibe Lounge
91-95 Brick Lane
London, E1
on Sunday 20th April 2008
at 6pm
Two short documentaries, The More the Merrier and Cash Back, will be screened along with wine reception, canapés and guest speakers including Philippe Legrain, author of Immigrants: Your Country Needs Them.
The More the Merrier, set in St. Katherine’s Docks, lyrically interweaves historical archive with the desire of one young Indian woman to stay in the UK. The film presents a uniquely pro-immigration case based on positive arguments from the Battle of Ideas.
Cash Back, set in Brick Lane, highlights the scope of remittances — monies sent by migrants and diasporas to friends and families overseas. These outstrip aid and foreign direct investment and don’t have the strings attached.
We do hope you will be able to attend. The minimum donation for a ticket is £5. After clicking on "Donate Now", please leave your name and donation amount in the boxes provided. Finally, in the "Your comment" box, please write the number of tickets you require. We will then send you a confirmation email.
If you'd rather buy your tickets directly through PayPal, please click here to be taken to the London Behind the Scenes website.
Further details on this project are available at
www.worldwrite.org.uk/londonbehindthescenes or please email us on world.write@btconnect.com or call us on 020 8985 5435.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Worldwrite will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
