My story
EDUCATION FOR ALL
An educated girl educates the next generation.
Help Provide a college education for girls in rural Morocco
Very few girls from the rural communities in the High Atlas get the opportunity of continuing their education after primary school. The Colleges are not accessible to them for three main reasons:
- Their parents cannot afford to pay for lodgings
- Their parents do not have the confidence in any of the facilities to entrust their daughters to be away from their rural communities.
- The colleges are inaccessable far away from the rural villages
Thanks to the donations that people have made there are now3 girls boarding houses looking after some 100 girls. The first was opened at Asni 45Km from Marrakech in April 2008, a second at Tlat -n-Yacoub 100km from Marrakech for 30 girls in Sept 2009 and a third at Ouirgane in Sept 2010. With your help we need to open a Lycee specific house by Sept 2013 in Asni
Approximately 1,000 Euro’s are needed each year to look after each girl for the running costs. In Sept 2012 we will have some 100 girls in EFA care providing them with opportunities that would not be possible without your support.
